Dental Crown Types
All-Porcelain/Ceramic ($800–3,000)
Best aesthetics — matches natural teeth perfectly. Ideal for front teeth. Less durable than metal or zirconia. Lifespan: 10–15 years.
Zirconia ($1,000–3,000)
Strongest ceramic option. Almost as aesthetic as porcelain but much more durable. Good for front or back teeth. Lifespan: 15–25+ years. Increasingly the most popular choice.
Porcelain-Fused-to-Metal ($500–1,500)
Metal core with porcelain exterior. Strong and looks natural. Can show dark line at gumline over time. Good budget option for back teeth. Lifespan: 10–15 years.
Gold/Metal Alloy ($600–2,500)
Most durable option. Lasts 20–40+ years. Least wear on opposing teeth. Obvious metallic appearance. Best for back molars where aesthetics don't matter. Gold price fluctuates.
Same-Day CEREC ($1,000–3,500)
Milled from a ceramic block in the office using CAD/CAM. Done in one visit (no temporary crown). Quality has improved dramatically. Premium price for convenience.
